Biosketch Ms Cleopatra Rakgantsho is appointed as a lecturer in the Discipline of Physiology. She is also a PhD candidate in the School. She obtained her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Biomedical Science majoring in Pharmacology at the University of The Witwatersrand in 2012. In 2015, her Bachelor Medical Science (Honours) degree was conferred cum laude at the UKZN where she also completed her Master of Medical Science in 2018. Ms. Rakgantsho’s PhD work is in neurophysiology investigating the implications of a history of prolonged febrile seizures in the development of epilepsy focusing on the cholinergic receptors in a rat model. She is also passionate about community engagement in matters of science to ensure that the work done in the academic space has an impact in society as whole and ensuring that more underprivileged individuals pursue careers in the sciences, especially neuroscience, to tackle their specific problems as it relates to mental and neurological health |
